Dr Richard Mandal graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He acquired his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the former Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and completed an orthopedic residency at the Madison, WI Veteran's Hospital.

As a Doctor in Illinois for 9 years prior to coming to Alberta, he was a fellow of the American College of Podopediatrics for an article he co-authored that discussed surgical treatment of specific hammer digit deformities in children. He also co-authored a clinical article for the American Podiatric Medical Association journal on treatment of hypermobile joints utilizing prolotherapy(carbohydrate injections).

He also was a co-clinic advisor for the American Running and Fitness association.

His philosophy of treatment includes exhaustion of all conservative means prior to surgery – including modalities and options such as treatment of the underlying biomechanics, physiotherapy, etc.

Hobbies include art, strength training and guitar.
